This is my first post and I thought I would write about Thanksgiving. Shawn and I decided that we would do Thanksgiving with both families because both families are so close to us. So in the morning I helped my mom make the feast, my favorite side dish is candied yams so I was in charge of making those. Grandma came over in the late morning to help also. We had our first Thanksgiving feast at 1pm with my uncle and aunt, Steve and Barb and their family. Barb's mom also joined us and she was so sweet with Riley. She would talk and smile at him, Riley loved her. We played games and had a good time. At 4pm Shawn and I went over to the Bartlett's and had dinner and visited. I tried to eat just little bits but by the end of it I was STUFFED and we still had homemade pie to eat by the chef in the family, Shawn's sister Vicki. So despite my stomach saying "NO" I had a piece of pie. I was so tired by 7pm that we decided to get on home, but my best friend Makenzie had bought Riley a Sunday outfit so we decided to pick it up. I told Shawn that we would be 20 minutes at most but when we got in, Riley woke up and I had to feed him. Whike there, Makenzie and I began to talk about black Friday deals and somewhere in our conversation we decided to go and do the 12 midnight deals at Wal-mart. I fed Riley at 11pm and sent Shawn home to put Riley and himself to bed. We got to Wal-mart at 11:30 and the crowds where already there. Makenzie, Britney, and I had never done this before so we went around the store trying to get our barrings. We decided on what we wanted to stand by and I confess I was poking through the plastic to feel the item and see what sizes were there. We had a Wal-mart associate that looked like Farrah Fawsett yelling at all of us to stop it and a woman smacking at her gum so loudly that it got annoying. When the sound went off all of us went grabbing to try to get the right size and color. We decided that we were done and got in to a check out line. We saw that there were other deals and so we left someone in line and went running through the crowds. We spent 40 mins in the check out line. By the time that I got home is was 2 in the morning. I had fun doing black Friday but I was tired. My dad was so nice to get up for me at 3am and go to Wal-mart and try to get a laptop for me. He was unsuccessful but my brother got a laptop for himself and sold his old laptop to Shawn and I. Early Christmas present!!!! Well, that is what my family did on Thanksgiving. I just want to give thanks. I am so grateful for my little family. I am so grateful that I get to be a mom to the most handsome little boy in the world. I want to give thanks to my wonderful husband that has so much on his plate but still lets me know that I am special.
